Apple is preparing a major upgrade for its AirPods Pro lineup. Leaks now suggest the next high-end AirPods Pro will include tiny cameras that let the earbuds sense the space around you. The focus appears to be on gesture control, spatial awareness, and tighter integration with Apple’s mixed reality products.
A prototype collector known as Kosutami says the next AirPods Pro will feature cameras in each earbud that can “see around” the wearer. This points to hands-free controls and new interaction methods that go beyond touch or voice.

In an earlier report, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple plans to add at least one infrared camera to the 2026 AirPods Pro. He previously explained that infrared sensors could enable hand gesture recognition and improve spatial audio when paired with Apple Vision Pro.
According to Kuo, the 2026 AirPods Pro will get a major hardware upgrade, with infrared cameras being the standout new feature.
Pricing remains a point of debate. Kosutami claims Apple will keep the price at $249, matching the current AirPods Pro. However, the Chinese leaker Instant Digital says Apple plans a higher-end variant that sits above AirPods Pro 3, not a full generational replacement. That would mirror Apple’s recent strategy of selling multiple versions of the same product line at different prices.
Apple already sells AirPods at $129, $179, $249, and $549. A premium model between AirPods Pro and AirPods Max would fit neatly into the lineup.
Launch timing remains unsettled. Apple usually introduces new AirPods during its September iPhone event, and past models have followed that pattern. Whether this camera-equipped version launches as a premium AirPods Pro variant or as AirPods Pro 4, all signs point to a 2026 debut.
