tvOS 26.4 removes the last remaining iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps from Apple TV, ending a long transition that started years ago and moving every purchase and viewing option inside the Apple TV app so users can now buy, watch, and manage content from one place instead of jumping between legacy storefront apps.
The change also removes access to the old iTunes Wish List directly on Apple TV, and Apple now directs users to save titles inside the TV app Watchlist instead, which works as the new reminder system for films and shows you want to purchase later while keeping previously bought content accessible without any migration steps.

After the first tvOS 26.4 beta was released, developer Aaron Perris confirmed that the standalone apps had completely disappeared from Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K devices.
Wish List and purchase changes
Apple had already removed the TV Shows and Movies store sections from iPhone and iPad earlier, then restored wish list access briefly after complaints, and now finishes the process by replacing it entirely with Watchlist links that Apple emailed to customers so they can manually transfer saved titles.
The company has slowly merged everything into the TV app so browsing, renting, and buying all happen in one storefront instead of iTunes-based menus.
Audio settings update
tvOS 26.4 also updates audio controls:
- Spatial Audio replaces the Dolby Atmos-labeled option
- Dolby Digital 5.1 conversion toggle
- Stereo Only mode
- Automatic audio mode
- Continuous Audio Connection over HDMI
The update currently sits in developer and public beta testing and Apple plans a wider release in spring, leaving Apple TV without any remaining iTunes video apps while music purchases still exist separately on iPhone through the iTunes Store.
