Apple Introduces New Studio Display and Studio Display XDR with Thunderbolt 5

Apple launches the new Studio Display and the all-new Studio Display XDR, expanding its desktop display lineup for both everyday users and high-end professionals who rely on accurate color, strong brightness, and fast refresh rates for demanding workflows. The company positions the new Studio Display as the ideal companion for Mac, while Studio Display XDR targets filmmakers, designers, 3D artists, and medical professionals who need precise visual performance.

Both models bring upgrades in camera quality, audio hardware, and Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, but Studio Display XDR pushes display technology further with mini LED backlighting, extreme brightness levels, and advanced color accuracy that supports serious production work.

Apple announced the new Studio Display family in a press release from Cupertino, California, confirming pricing, specifications, and availability details for both models.

“Apple has led the industry in delivering the world’s most advanced displays for pros to do their life’s best work, and today we do that once again with the introduction of the new Studio Display family,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. “Studio Display gets even better with a new 12MP Center Stage camera and powerful Thunderbolt 5 connectivity. And the Studio Display XDR is a huge leap forward for XDR technology, with a mini-LED backlight, 2000 nits of peak HDR brightness, advanced color accuracy, and a 120Hz refresh rate, transforming workflows like filmmaking, design and print, and 3D animation. It’s by far the world’s best pro display.”

Apple describes Studio Display XDR as “the world’s best pro display,” and the hardware specifications reflect that ambition.
