If you frequently use WhatsApp for voice and video calls, dealing with loud background noise is about to get much easier. A new software update is bringing system-level microphone controls directly into the active call screen. Instead of forcing you to swipe away from your conversation to find the right audio settings, the app now places these useful sound filters right at your fingertips.
The new call menu offers four different audio processing choices
During an active voice or video chat, you can now tap the “More” button at the bottom of the screen to open the new microphone settings. This menu lets you switch between four distinct modes without ever dropping or interrupting your current call. Standard mode keeps the default audio balance. Voice Isolation blocks out surrounding noise so the other person can hear you clearly.

Wide Spectrum lets all the background sounds through, which is great if you want to share a live event. Finally, Automatic mode lets the phone decide the best option based on your situation.
These features actually come directly from the iPhone operating system rather than the messaging app itself. Apple first introduced these audio filters back in iOS 15, but most people never used them because they were hidden inside the Control Center. By bringing this shortcut directly into the call interface, the messaging platform is making these tools far more accessible.
Once you pick a preferred setting, the app remembers your choice for all future calls. You do not have to dig into the menu every time you ring a friend. The update is currently rolling out slowly through the App Store, so it might take a few weeks before it shows up on your device.
