Apple appears ready to release a new Apple TV 4K and an updated HomePod speaker, but the company has not announced either product yet because both devices depend on Apple’s next major Siri upgrade. Apple wants its upcoming smart home products to work closely with new artificial intelligence features, and that plan now depends on when the redesigned Siri finally becomes stable enough for public release.
Apple had already prepared updates for its living room and smart speaker lineup, yet the delay around the Siri overhaul continues to slow down the timeline. The company recently held an early 2026 product launch where it introduced the iPhone 17e and the MacBook Neo, though the event did not include any mention of a new Apple TV or HomePod.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has tied both devices directly to the upcoming Siri upgrade that relies on new AI features.
“The updated Apple TV and HomePod are both linked to new artificial intelligence features.”
Apple originally planned to introduce its Apple Intelligence version of Siri in iOS 26.4, but engineers pushed the release back after internal testing showed reliability problems. Apple now aims to deliver the full Siri upgrade with iOS 27 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, though some features could still appear earlier in a future iOS 26.5 update.
New Apple TV and HomePod
The Apple TV 4K has not received an update since 2022, and reports suggest the next model will include the A17 Pro chip along with Apple’s N1 networking chip. That processor already powers devices like the iPhone 15 Pro and supports Apple Intelligence capabilities.
The next HomePod update appears focused on the smaller HomePod mini, which is expected to use a newer Apple Watch chip along with upgraded wireless and ultra wideband components. Apple has not confirmed whether it will also refresh the larger HomePod speaker.
For now, Apple’s next smart home devices appear ready for release, but their launch still depends on when the company finishes the long delayed Siri overhaul.
So tired of these delays on the Apple TV. It was supposed to happen in 2025. Maybe it will come in 2027. My firestick (5) have been failing. But, I am losing patience and even though I am deeply in the Apple ecosystem, I feel betrayed by Apple and I will need to move away from my Mac’ (2), iPads (2), AirPods (2). But, promises broken from Apple have left me, let’s say disappointed beyond belief. Maybe google or and android streaming devices.
