Jessica Gunning, who you probably know from the popular show Baby Reindeer, is officially heading to a brand new project. Apple TV is putting together a television series based on the famous Berlin Noir books, and they just added her to the growing cast. She is not the only one coming on board, as six other actors were also announced for this upcoming detective drama.
Apple TV is filling out the cast for a new mystery
Gunning is joining a solid group of actors for this television adaptation. The new cast members include Maxine Peake, Daniel Mays, Sam Riley, Roger Allam, Liz Kingsman, and Carys Daniels. Each actor brings their own background to the project, with many coming from well-known British shows and films. The streaming platform takes its story directly from the books written by Philip Kerr.
Those novels follow a private investigator working in Germany just before the Second World War. It is a dark historical setting that needs a strong ensemble of actors to pull off the heavy material.
Bringing the story to life on screen
The streaming platform has a habit of spending good money to make its historical shows look right. You can expect a lot of attention to detail when it comes to the clothes, cars, and the city streets. The creators clearly want to capture the tense and gloomy mood of the original novels.
While we do not have an exact release date yet, filming is currently underway in Germany. Fans of the book series are already talking about how these new actors will fit into the established story.
