Gunning is joining a solid group of actors for this television adaptation. The new cast members include Maxine Peake, Daniel Mays, Sam Riley, Roger Allam, Liz Kingsman, and Carys Daniels. Each actor brings their own background to the project, with many coming from well-known British shows and films. The streaming platform takes its story directly from the books written by Philip Kerr.
Those novels follow a private investigator working in Germany just before the Second World War. It is a dark historical setting that needs a strong ensemble of actors to pull off the heavy material.
