Apple Releases First AirTag 2 Firmware Update Since January Launch

AirTag 2 Facts You Should Know Before Upgrading

Apple has released a new firmware update for its second-generation AirTag, marking the first update since the tracker launched in January 2026, and this rollout brings version 3.0.45, replacing the earlier 3.0.41 build.

Apple has not shared detailed release notes for this update, but the company usually focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements when it updates AirTag firmware, so users can expect stability changes rather than new features.

AirTag firmware updates do not arrive often, which makes this release notable for early AirTag 2 users who want their device running the latest software.

You can check the firmware version by opening the Find My app, selecting the Items tab, tapping your AirTag, and then tapping its name to view the current version.

There is no manual way to install the update, so keep your AirTag near your iPhone and wait as the firmware installs automatically over the air.

  • I hope this fixes “Your Battery is low”. I have a hidden AirTag2 in my wheels and it constantly alerts me of low battery even with a new battery. I also rubbed off the “kid” coating with steel wool and 90% Alcohol. It still alerted me with a low battery.
