Viral Foldable iPhone Unboxing Video Exposed As A Clever Fake

Fake iPhone Fold Unboxing video

A new video showing someone opening up a foldable Apple iPhone is taking over social media this week. It looks real at first glance, complete with familiar packaging and charging cables. Fans got their hopes up quickly, sharing the clip everywhere. But experts took a closer look and realized the whole thing is completely fake.

Apple has not released a folding phone, and it has not even confirmed one is coming.

How the unboxing video tricked so many fans

The video maker put serious effort into copying the classic packaging style. But the person opening the box acts a bit strangely. He focuses way too much on the cardboard inserts and rubs the back logo while the audio sounds weirdly loud. On top of that, the device is never fully turned on to show the operating system.

Visual trickery is hard to get perfect. Tech experts noticed a big gap on the back of the phone, but that gap magically disappears when looking at the front screen. The person in the clip also never turns the device over to show the other side. Eventually, the truth came out.

The original creator, Johan Lelievre, admitted he made the video as an April Fool’s joke. The internet just took the prank way too seriously.
