Rome and Naples Get Better 3D Views in New Apple Maps Update

Apple Maps Rome Naples

Apple is rolling out a big visual update for its navigation app in Italy today. The Detailed City Experience is now live for anyone visiting Rome and Naples. This means maps in those cities now look more realistic, featuring hand-crafted 3D models of landmarks and improved road layouts. It makes getting around these historic and busy streets a lot easier for everyone.

Famous landmarks now appear as custom 3D models on your screen

When you zoom into Rome or Naples, you will see iconic spots as high-quality 3D models. Designers created these versions by hand to show the unique colors and shapes of buildings. This helps you orient yourself quickly in busy areas. At night, the map shifts to a mode with glowing buildings that match the real world.

In Rome, you can now see custom versions of the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and the Borghese Gallery and Museum. The update also covers the Piazza di Spagna, Piazza del Popolo, and the Apple Via del Corso store.

For those in Naples, the map highlights the Castel dell’Ovo, Castel Nuovo, and the Basilica Reale Pontificia di San Francesco di Paola. Even local favorites like L’antica Pizzeria da Michele are now easy to find on the map.

Navigating intersections is easier with better road markings and lane views

Driving through a new city can be tricky, but Apple Maps now shows more helpful road data. You can see things like crosswalks, turn lanes, and even the medians that divide traffic. The app now gives clearer instructions on which lane you need to be in before you reach a complex intersection or a highway exit. This reduces the stress of making a quick turn in heavy traffic.

Beyond the roads, the map includes more details for parks. You can see paths through a garden or the exact location of trees. This makes it a great tool for people exploring on foot. It provides a deeper look at the urban landscape that was not available in older versions of the app.

These changes make exploring two of Italy’s most famous cities much more visual and helpful. Whether you are driving through Naples or walking past the ruins in Rome, the improved maps provide the extra detail needed to find your way.
