Apple TV’s upcoming comedy series starring Elizabeth Banks has added another major name to its cast, as Ted Danson officially joins the untitled half-hour project that is currently preparing to begin production in Los Angeles later this year. The series already features Rob Delaney, while Liz Heldens and Matt Ward created the show for 20th Television.
According to Deadline, Danson will play the father of Banks’ character Heidi, a recently divorced woman trying to rebuild her personal life while creating a better future for her children. However, her plans become far more complicated after she unexpectedly starts coordinating sex dates inside her father’s retirement community, which pushes her into an unusual partnership with the son of her father’s girlfriend.

The setup already gives the series a very different tone from most Apple TV comedies, especially because it combines family drama, awkward humor, and retirement community chaos into one storyline. Ted Danson’s casting also feels fitting because audiences recently saw him in another retirement community setting in Netflix’s A Man on the Inside.
Rob Delaney’s role still remains undisclosed, although his addition alongside Banks and Danson gives the series a strong comedy lineup with actors known for balancing emotional and awkward humor naturally on screen.
The Hollywood Reporter also noted that Danson continues to stay busy across television projects, including A Man on the Inside, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Good Place, and Mr. Mayor. Apple TV and 20th Television have not revealed an official title yet, although the show will likely arrive sometime in 2027 as production is still in its early stages.
