macOS 27 Brings Pull-to-Refresh Gesture to Mac for the First Time

Apple releases the first macOS 27 Golden Gate beta with Siri AI upgrades, design refinements, smarter search, and performance improvements.

Apple is bringing one of the most familiar iPhone and iPad gestures to the Mac with macOS 27 Golden Gate. The new update adds support for pull-to-refresh, allowing users to swipe down within supported apps to load the latest content without using keyboard shortcuts or menu options.

Apple calls the feature “Swipe down to refresh,” and it works much like it does on iPhone and iPad. Users can simply drag down on a page or feed to refresh information instantly. At launch, the feature supports apps including Safari, Mail, News, Podcasts, and Calendar.

The addition makes everyday tasks feel more natural, especially for users who regularly switch between Apple devices. Since pull-to-refresh has been a core part of iOS and iPadOS for years, bringing the gesture to macOS creates a more consistent experience across Apple’s ecosystem.

The update has also fueled discussion about Apple’s long-term Mac plans. Reports suggest the company is developing a premium “MacBook Ultra” with a touchscreen OLED display, a next-generation M6-series chip, Dynamic Island, and a thinner design. While Apple has not confirmed those products, touch-friendly features such as swipe-to-refresh suggest the company is preparing macOS for future hardware that supports more direct interaction methods.

macOS 27 Golden Gate continues Apple’s effort to make the Mac feel more intuitive while keeping familiar navigation patterns across its platforms.
