Anthropic Launches Claude Tag, a New Slack-Powered AI Tool for Teams

Anthropic has announced a new feature called Claude Tag, giving teams a new way to work with Claude directly inside Slack. The feature launches today in beta and is available for Enterprise and Team customers.

Claude Tag starts with Slack integration, allowing Claude to join a workspace as a team member. Organizations can grant access to selected channels and connect Claude to tools, data sources, and even codebases. Once set up, team members can tag @Claude in conversations and assign tasks without leaving Slack.

According to Anthropic, Claude Tag helps teams share the same version of Claude across their organization. As it works within channels, the AI can build context by remembering relevant information and using it to support future tasks. This allows employees to focus on their work while Claude handles assigned responsibilities in the background.

The company describes Claude Tag as the next step in the evolution of Claude Code. Anthropic has also been using the tool internally for some time before making it available to customers.

Another key feature is the ability to automate and schedule work. When ambient behavior is enabled, Claude Tag can proactively assist teams and carry out planned tasks without requiring constant prompts from users.

Claude Tag also replaces the existing Claude in Slack integration. Anthropic confirmed that the older Claude in Slack tool will be retired on August 3, making Claude Tag the company’s primary Slack-based collaboration experience going forward.

The new feature is now rolling out in beta for eligible Anthropic customers, bringing deeper AI collaboration and workflow automation directly into team conversations.
