Spoilers: What happens in the Lucky Episode 4 ending?
Episode 4 brings Lucky and her estranged husband, Cary Masterson, back together after she tracks him down. Cary previously disappeared with the stolen money, leaving Lucky to face the FBI, crime boss Priscilla and several other dangerous people alone.
Their reunion begins with anger and distrust. However, Cary eventually explains his decisions, and the two acknowledge that they still care about each other. They attempt to escape together, hoping they can leave their criminal lives behind and start again.
Their plan quickly falls apart when the authorities close in. Lucky and Cary become trapped in a high-speed pursuit involving the FBI and Priscilla’s people. Gunfire breaks out during the chase, and their vehicle crashes after Cary receives a fatal gunshot wound.
Does Lucky Armstrong die?
Lucky does not die in Episode 4.
She survives the crash and stays beside Cary during his final moments. Cary tells Lucky that he does not regret their relationship, despite the betrayal, lies and danger surrounding them. The pair finally make peace before Cary dies from his injuries.
Lucky then takes the bag Cary brought with him and runs before the FBI reaches the wreckage. She leaves the scene alive, but Cary’s death removes the only person who truly understood her complicated past.
The ending places Lucky in an even more dangerous position. She still has the authorities chasing her, while Priscilla now has a deeply personal reason to seek revenge. Priscilla loses her son because of the chase, and her grief will likely drive her actions during the remaining episodes.
Where is Lucky’s story heading?
Lucky began the series trying to escape the criminal life created by her father, John Armstrong. However, every attempt to find freedom has pushed her deeper into violence, deception and survival.
Cary’s death changes her motivation. She is no longer searching only for the missing money or a safe route out of the country. She must now decide whether to keep running, confront Priscilla or use the money and evidence against the people hunting her.
The show also continues to explore whether Lucky can break away from the identity her family gave her. Her ability to manipulate people, steal identities and disappear has kept her alive, but those same skills have damaged nearly every relationship she values.
With three episodes remaining, Lucky must face Priscilla’s revenge while avoiding FBI Agent Billie Rand. Cary’s death also leaves several questions about the stolen money, the original heist and the people who helped arrange it.
