Season 3 takes place three months after the rebellion and follows two connected timelines. In the present, Juliette has returned to Silo 18, but her damaged memory prevents her from fully explaining the Safeguard system and the danger facing everyone inside.
The second storyline travels 352 years into the past. Congressman Daniel Keene and journalist Helen Drew investigate events surrounding Washington, D.C., and the enormous project that eventually created the silos. Their discoveries slowly explain who built the underground structures and why humanity was forced inside them.
The previous two seasons followed Juliette as she investigated the deaths of George Wilkins and several silo officials. Her search exposed manipulated records, false images and a network of connected silos. Season 2 ended with Juliette returning to Silo 18 while the show introduced Daniel and Helen in the distant past.
What Happens in Silo Season 3 Episode 5?
Major Episode 5 spoilers follow.
“Memory” reveals that Bernard survived the fire inside the escape hatch. Robert Sims initially appears ready to kill him but secretly chooses to spare his life. Sims then works with Walker, Carla and other resistance members to hide Bernard from the system controlling the silo.
The episode also explains more about the Order, Silo One and the network of 50 silos. Juliette remains central to stopping the Safeguard, which can kill an entire silo by releasing poison. However, someone has chemically suppressed her memories, leaving her unable to recall the information needed to stop it.
A familiar Pez dispenser finally helps Juliette recover a crucial memory. This discovery gives the resistance a possible way to protect Silo 18 and prepares the story for a direct fight against the intelligence managing the underground network.
Episode 6 will continue the search for a way to disable the Safeguard while the historical storyline reveals more about the creation of the silos. What do you think Juliette will do with her recovered memories? Let us know in the comments.
