Apple is reportedly planning to turn its upcoming smart glasses into a wider health and fitness platform, although the first-generation model will probably launch without these features when it arrives next year.
Mark Gurman reports that Apple has already explored a similar idea for the Vision Pro, where users could follow Fitness+ workouts, track their movement, and close Activity rings while wearing the headset.

Apple also planned to use the Vision Pro’s body-tracking system to study movement during workouts and give users more useful feedback than they would receive from an iPad or Apple TV. However, the headset’s weight and other technical limits pushed the company to abandon the project before launch.
Apple is revisiting fitness through smart glasses
Apple now appears to be returning to the same idea with its upcoming smart glasses, although the product will work differently because the first version is not expected to include built-in displays.
The company is also hiring for a role focused on health, fitness, well-being, spatial computing, wearables, and human behaviour, which suggests Apple wants to build a long-term fitness strategy around future glasses and headsets.
One possible feature involves audio coaching similar to Workout Buddy on Apple Watch, while a heart-rate sensor inside the glasses could help runners track effort without depending on another device.
The glasses’ cameras could also study body movement during exercises, detect mistakes, and provide guidance that helps users improve their form over time.
Apple’s first smart glasses will likely focus on core features at launch, while the more advanced health and fitness tools may arrive with later generations after the company solves the remaining hardware and software challenges.
