The first three episodes arrived together on July 27, followed by weekly releases through the end of August. Emmy Rossum stars as FBI agent Alice Black, while Lola Petticrew plays Catherine, the woman responsible for killing several wealthy men.

Catherine traps Oliver inside his own home
After entering Oliver’s apartment in the previous episode, Catherine continues pretending to be a vulnerable young woman who depends on him. Oliver enjoys controlling her, which allows Catherine to remain close while secretly drugging him.
Her plan becomes more complicated when Oliver’s teenage daughter, Mira, unexpectedly arrives for a debate tournament. Catherine initially sees Mira as another obstacle, but she soon notices how little interest Oliver shows in his daughter’s life.
Mira wants to cut her hair short, although Oliver refuses to let her do it. His reaction reminds Catherine of comments he made about her hair when she was 15. The memory confirms that Catherine did not choose Oliver randomly. He paid to have sex with her when she was underage and later avoided any serious consequences.
Alice struggles with her own trauma
Meanwhile, Alice continues investigating the suspicious overdose deaths. Her determination begins affecting her health and behaviour, especially as the case brings back memories of her abusive former partner, Marshall.
Alice has avoided taking showers because Marshall used to attack her in the bathroom. Her former police partner, Danny, notices that she is struggling and offers to sit outside while she showers so she can feel safe.
Their conversation shows that Danny believed Alice when she reported the abuse, although his continued professional connection with Marshall makes their relationship difficult. Alice also remains angry that speaking out damaged her career while Marshall continued working without facing meaningful punishment.
Why does Catherine kill Oliver?
Catherine eventually reveals her real reason for entering Oliver’s home. She reminds him that he paid for sex with her when she was only 15.
Oliver claims that Catherine never told him her age. Catherine rejects the excuse because he never tried to find out. She also asks whether he remembers another girl who was present that night, suggesting that Catherine’s campaign involves finding or avenging someone from her past.
Catherine kills Oliver while Mira remains inside the apartment. After discovering her father’s body, Mira asks Catherine why she murdered him.
Catherine tells her the truth about Oliver’s crimes. The scene leaves Mira traumatised, even though she appears to understand that her father had hidden a much darker life.
Before leaving, Catherine helps Mira cut her hair, giving the teenager the freedom Oliver had denied her.
Alice finds the connection to Oliver
Alice and Nora discover that Caleb Easton’s car appeared in surveillance footage connected to the Candlelight Lounge investigation. Oliver, who worked as Caleb’s lawyer, later reported that vehicle missing.
The clue gives investigators a direct link between the suspected victims, but they reach Oliver’s apartment too late to save him. Alice now knows that someone is targeting men connected to the trafficking case.
Episode 2 pushes Alice closer to Catherine while showing how similar experiences shaped both women. Catherine seeks revenge through murder, while Alice continues searching for justice inside a system that previously failed her.
