Apple appears to be preparing Car Keys support for Xiaomi Auto vehicles, with new backend changes suggesting the feature could arrive soon for the Chinese automaker’s electric cars.
MacRumors found changes in Apple’s Wallet app backend that point to Xiaomi Auto support, following earlier code discovered in the third developer beta of iOS 27 in July. That earlier reference already showed Apple was working on Xiaomi integration, while the latest backend update suggests the rollout is getting closer.
Xiaomi has expanded beyond smartphones and consumer electronics with electric vehicles such as the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV. Adding Apple Car Keys would give Xiaomi owners another way to use their iPhone or Apple Watch with their vehicle, even though Xiaomi remains one of Apple’s major competitors in the smartphone market.

How Apple Car Keys works
Apple Car Keys stores a digital vehicle key inside the Wallet app, allowing supported iPhone and Apple Watch models to unlock, lock, and start compatible cars.
Drivers can hold their device near the vehicle’s NFC reader, while some manufacturers also support additional features depending on the model and hardware.
Apple introduced Car Keys in 2022, and brands including BMW, Rivian, Kia, and Hyundai already support the feature across selected vehicles. Apple also maintains a list of compatible models through its CarPlay vehicle availability page.
