iOS 27.0.1 is now available with fixes for Face ID, camera, and touchscreen bugs

Apple has released iOS 27.0.1 for iPhone, the first minor update since iOS 27 arrived earlier this month. The update carries build number 24A446 and focuses on fixing several bugs, including problems affecting Face ID, the camera, and touchscreen responsiveness.

The update is available for all iPhones that support iOS 27, although two of the main fixes specifically address issues reported on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

You can install iOS 27.0.1 directly from the Settings app:

1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
2. Tap General.
3. Select Software Update.
4. Wait for iOS 27.0.1 to appear.
5. Tap Update Now or Download and Install.
6. Enter your passcode if requested.
7. Keep your iPhone connected to power and Wi-Fi while the update installs.

It is also a good idea to back up your iPhone before installing any software update.

iOS 27.0.1 is mainly a bug-fix release rather than a feature update. Here are the changes included in the release:

• Face ID restart fix: Apple has fixed an issue where the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could unexpectedly restart when Face ID failed to authenticate. Some affected users had also reported freezes and problems while using Face ID inside apps.
• Camera color artifact fix: The update addresses a problem where a color artifact could appear in photos captured at 2x under certain lighting conditions at f/1.48 on a small number of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices.
• Touchscreen responsiveness fix: Apple has corrected a bug where opening Notification Center and Control Center at the same time could cause the touchscreen to stop responding. This issue could affect iPhones running iOS 27 more broadly.

Apple has also released iPadOS 27.0.1 and visionOS 27.0.1 alongside the iPhone update, while older devices can receive iOS and iPadOS 26.7.1.
