“The Prophet” most likely refers to Henry and Donald’s father, the charismatic leader of the religious compound where the brothers’ past unfolds. The episode does not turn the title into a formal name card, so this remains an interpretation, but he is the figure whose authority shapes every major flashback.

His teaching creates the environment in which Henry learns to confuse obedience, possession and protection. That history does not excuse Maggie’s abduction. It explains why Henry can treat a devastating crime as a family destiny he is entitled to preserve.

The compound places one man above the family

Fifteen years earlier, Donald arrives at his father’s community with Jenna while trying to stop drinking. Donald has to humble himself to be allowed back, while Henry is held up as the dutiful son. Their father’s approval becomes a tool for comparing and controlling the brothers.

Jenna responds to the structure differently. She stays after Donald is banished, is baptized and eventually begins a relationship with Henry. When the couple wants to leave for a farm inherited from Jenna’s aunt, Henry still seeks his father’s permission and intends to carry the message with him.

Sarah’s death leads Henry to Maggie

Jenna and Henry have a daughter named Sarah, but the child dies in a terrible accident at the farm. Jenna is devastated. Henry later meets Maggie when Ian brings her to work, and his grief becomes the point at which the compound’s ideas about family turn into an act of abduction.

Henry follows Maggie home and takes her through the bedroom window. She is then raised as Sarah. The episode leaves some details of the immediate switch unstated, including exactly what Henry told Jenna, but it confirms that the teenager called Sarah is Ian and Debbie’s missing daughter Maggie.

The title is about inherited authority

The father does not need to order the kidnapping for the title to implicate his influence. Henry has learned to place belief above consent and to treat his version of family as morally protected. That pattern continues when he refuses to let the present-day Sarah choose what happens next.

By naming the episode “The Prophet,” the series points beyond one crime toward the authority that formed its perpetrator. Ian’s pursuit is now aimed at Maggie, but the finale also has to confront the belief system that allowed Henry to rename her life. The title makes the family’s past part of the present danger.
