Spoilers for Kill Jackie Season 1 Episode 1 follow. The Seven Demons want Jackie Price dead because someone has hired them to kill her. The premiere confirms the contract, but it does not identify the person who ordered it or prove their motive. Jackie suspects that her former life as a drug dealer has caught up with her.
That uncertainty is the point of the ending. Jackie survives one attack only to discover that the attackers were ordinary hired men, not the far more formidable Demons. Her escape plan becomes urgent when the people and places around her begin to be targeted as well.

Karenina’s warning changes the threat
After armed men break into Jackie’s home, she turns to Karenina for protection. Karenina says she is joining a group called the Seven Demons. When she contacts them, the answer turns Jackie’s request on its head: Jackie is their next target. Karenina’s contract has not started yet, leaving a brief window in which she can warn her.

The distinction between the first gunmen and the Demons matters. Jackie’s security measures stop the initial assault, but that victory says little about her chances against professional killers who will pursue her one at a time. She has prepared emergency passports, phones and payment cards, suggesting that she always knew her past might force her to disappear again.
Jackie’s past is a lead, not an answer
Jackie has spent two decades building a wealthy, carefully managed life in the art trade. Before that, she was involved in international drug trafficking. The series gives her and viewers ample reason to look backward for an enemy, but an old criminal connection is still a theory in this episode. No buyer of the Demons’ contract steps forward.
Her immediate danger also has a more personal source. Jackie works out that Leo, a longtime associate with a key to her apartment, let the earlier attackers in. She notices that another door was forced while hers was not. His betrayal shows how easily her carefully protected world can be breached, even before the Seven Demons make their move.
The ending turns an escape into a counterattack
By the final stretch, Jackie knows her home has been destroyed and Sam’s office has been set on fire. She brings Sam and her young assistant Charlie into her plan, asking Sam to turn her assets into cash. The three will run, but Jackie sounds less like someone hoping merely to hide than someone rediscovering the instincts she buried years ago.
The premiere therefore answers who is coming, not who sent them. Jackie’s old life offers the strongest apparent explanation, while Leo’s betrayal proves that people close to her can be compromised. The next question is whether she can identify the buyer before the Demons close in. Who do you think put the contract on Jackie? Share your theory in the comments.
