Spoilers for Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 Episode 3 follow. Julia’s unsettling news is that Seema, the new maid at Castle Leathers, knew Henry far more intimately than Julia expected. Seema had been close to him while he was searching for Julia. Her arrival places a painful part of Henry’s past inside the household where Julia is already trapped.

Julia asks Lord Lovat to send Seema away, but he refuses. He intends for Seema to watch her while he is absent. By the end of “Rabbits Don’t Swim,” Julia and Seema remain at Leathers together with Davina and young William. The episode does not turn Seema into a confirmed enemy, but it makes her promise of protection difficult for Julia to accept.

Seema knows the life Julia has been trying to reclaim

Julia first sees Seema in Lovat’s bedroom. Later, Seema tells her that she knew Henry when he was with the Grants and speaks of knowing him intimately. She even knows about Claire. To Julia, those details are not casual gossip. Henry and Claire are the family she has been trying to reach across time, and Seema suddenly has knowledge of both.

Seema’s account has a basis in the story: she and Henry were intimate in the first season. That does not prove Henry stopped loving Julia or intended to abandon their family. He believed Julia was lost and was struggling to find her. Julia has not had the benefit of seeing that whole journey, so the revelation lands as a shock rather than as a neatly explained chapter of his past.

Lovat turns an awkward meeting into surveillance

Julia cannot openly say why Seema’s connection to Henry troubles her. She has maintained a story in which Henry took her against her will. When she asks Lovat to remove the maid, she says Seema reminds her of that ordeal. The explanation protects Julia’s secret, but it does not persuade Lovat.

Lovat says Seema will stay and keep an eye on Julia during his absence. That gives the new maid a role beyond ordinary household work. She knows Henry, knows the cover story Julia is using, and now has permission to remain close to her. Seema later promises to protect Julia and William, yet Julia cannot tell whether that promise is a comfort, a warning, or both.

The ending leaves trust unresolved

Seema says she was sent to watch for Henry if he returns. That makes her presence especially consequential: the person Julia most wants to see might walk into a house where someone else is waiting for him. At the same time, Seema has her own vulnerability under Lovat’s power. Reducing her to a simple rival misses how little freedom either woman has at Leathers.

Unlike the battle at Castle Leoch, Julia’s conflict ends without a decisive confrontation. The important change is in the household’s balance: she knows more about Henry, while Lovat has installed someone who can monitor her. Whether Seema becomes an ally depends on what each woman does with that knowledge. Do you think Julia can trust Seema? Share your view in the comments.
