Apple TV has announced The Choir, an eight-episode comedy drama created by and starring Ruth Jones and James Corden. The series is in production and is scheduled to premiere globally in 2027.
Apple revealed the cast and premise in its October 6 series announcement. The project marks Jones and Corden’s first work together since Gavin & Stacey: The Finale, and both serve as executive producers.
Corden plays Ben, who returns to the small English town and family he left behind after years abroad. Jones plays his estranged sister Lisa. A struggling local choir becomes the unlikely setting for the pair to repair their relationship.

The Choir adds a large ensemble cast
The supporting cast includes Tom Davis, Rosie Sheehy, Susan Brown, Jason Watkins, David Harewood, Alexandria Riley and Sylvestra Le Touzel. Hannah Waddingham, James McAvoy and Jim Broadbent will appear in guest roles.
Various Artists Limited and TidyTwo are producing the series for Apple TV. Jennifer Sheridan and Jim Archer are set to direct, while Phil Clarke and Jack Bayles join Jones and Corden as executive producers.
Apple has not announced a specific premiere date beyond 2027. The company describes the show as a story about family, friendship, love and music, positioning the choir itself as the link between the estranged siblings and their community.
The announcement does not include episode titles, a trailer or a month for the premiere. Apple is likely to provide those details closer to release, once production is further along.
