Apple TV will add Dolby Atmos to its Formula 1 coverage in the United States beginning with the U.S. Grand Prix weekend on October 23. The audio upgrade will join the 4K Dolby Vision presentation already offered for races this season.
Dolby and Apple announced that Atmos will be available across Formula 1 practice, qualifying, Sprint and Grand Prix coverage from Austin onward. The announcement applies to Apple TV’s U.S. broadcast package.
Dolby Atmos can place engine noise, crowd sound and commentary around the listening position when viewers use compatible hardware. Dolby Vision handles the picture’s expanded brightness and color range, so the two formats address separate parts of the presentation.

What viewers need
The stream requires an Apple TV subscription in the United States and equipment that supports Dolby Atmos. That may include a compatible television, soundbar, AV receiver or supported Apple audio setup. Available audio formats can vary by device and connection path.
Apple became Formula 1’s exclusive U.S. broadcast partner for the 2026 season under a five-year agreement. Its original rights announcement covers every practice session, qualifying session, Sprint and race.
The Atmos rollout starts Friday, October 23, rather than only with Sunday’s race. Viewers outside the United States should not assume the same availability because Apple and Dolby limited this announcement to the U.S. service.
Apple TV apps on supported third-party platforms may expose different audio settings. Viewers can check the playback information on their television or receiver to confirm that the stream is actually arriving in Atmos.
