Some Mac testers are reporting that macOS 27.2 beta 3 fails to download, stops during preparation or no longer appears in Software Update. The reports do not point to a single confirmed cause, and many enrolled Macs have installed the build normally.
Users discussing build 26B5101f in a macOS community thread reported inconsistent availability and speculation that the build had been pulled. Apple has not published a broad service notice explaining the behavior.
Beta visibility can differ between developer and public channels, and Software Update may take time to refresh after enrollment changes. A missing build therefore does not automatically mean Apple has withdrawn it for every tester.

Low-risk checks before retrying
Testers can confirm the selected beta channel in System Settings, check available storage and restart the Mac before trying Software Update again. They should also verify Apple’s System Status page if other downloads are failing.
A complete backup is important before any beta installation. Users should avoid deleting update catalogs, disabling security protections or running undocumented Terminal commands to force the build.
If beta 3 still does not appear, waiting for Apple to refresh the catalog is safer than repeatedly changing enrollment settings. The Mac Observer’s public beta 3 report explains the normal update path.
Apple’s beta catalogs can be adjusted quickly. Availability should therefore be rechecked immediately before giving another user installation advice or claiming that the build has been restored.
