Apple has added Reachability support to the iPhone Duo with the first iOS 27.3 developer beta, making its wider outer display easier to use with one hand. The update, released on November 3 with build number 24C5037i, introduces a horizontal version of the accessibility feature specifically designed for Apple’s foldable iPhone.
The feature arrives shortly after the iPhone Duo launched in October, addressing concerns about its wide cover screen and the difficulty of reaching controls with one thumb. Apple had previously confirmed that Reachability would arrive through a software update later this year.
How Reachability Works on iPhone Duo
On regular iPhones, Reachability temporarily lowers the interface so users can access controls near the top of the screen. However, the iPhone Duo uses a different approach that moves content horizontally.

According to MacRumors, users can shift the interface toward either side of the outer display while the device is folded, bringing distant buttons and other controls closer to their thumb.
The gestures work as follows:
- Swipe left from the left edge: Moves screen content toward the left side.
- Swipe right from the right edge: Moves screen content toward the right side.
- One-handed navigation: Makes controls on the opposite side easier to reach without changing your grip.
The adjustment is particularly useful because the iPhone Duo’s 5.4-inch outer display has a wider aspect ratio than traditional iPhone screens.
How to Enable Reachability on iPhone Duo
Apple enables Reachability by default after installing iOS 27.3 beta, although users can manage the feature through Accessibility settings.
- Open Settings on your iPhone Duo.
- Select Accessibility.

- Tap Touch.
- Turn Reachability on or off.
The feature is currently available through the iOS 27.3 developer beta, with a broader public release expected in December.
Alongside Reachability, Apple is testing additional improvements to Safari, Siri, and the Health app. For iPhone Duo owners, the new horizontal gesture directly addresses one of the usability concerns raised following the foldable’s launch.
