Lucky Season 2 Hasn’t Been Announced, But the Clues Are Already There

Lucky has finished its seven-episode run on Apple TV, and Season 2 has not been announced. Apple has consistently described the Anya Taylor-Joy crime thriller as a limited series, with the August 19 finale serving as the series finale.

Still, there is already a surprisingly clear route for Lucky Season 2. Author Marissa Stapley is writing a sequel to the original novel, and its story could give Apple enough material to bring Taylor-Joy back for another run.

  • Series: Lucky
  • Genre: Crime thriller, drama
  • Episodes: 7
  • Premiere: July 15, 2026
  • Finale: August 19, 2026

Lucky begins after a multimillion-dollar heist goes wrong, forcing Lucky Armstrong to run from the FBI and dangerous people who want the missing money. Her complicated relationship with her father, John, remains central as she tries to escape the criminal life he taught her.

By the finale, Lucky finally separates herself from that cycle. Priscilla kills Wayne during the final confrontation, while Lucky ultimately leaves John behind and walks toward a life outside his schemes. The closing beach sequence gives her character a natural stopping point.

Another season would therefore need a strong reason to pull Lucky back into danger without simply repeating the first season.

A second Lucky book gives Apple an obvious option

That reason already exists.

Stapley is working on No Such Thing as Lucky, a sequel scheduled for 2027. The new story puts Lucky on the run again after she loses her money and becomes implicated in the murder of her mother. Priscilla also returns as an important part of the story.

More importantly for the TV series, Stapley has said the second novel incorporates Agent Billie Rand and Dutch, two characters created for Apple’s adaptation. She has an agreement allowing her to use them, which brings the worlds of the books and TV series closer together.

That makes a second television season considerably easier to imagine. Apple would have a new story involving familiar characters, while the book and series could also generate interest around the same period.

The cast gives Apple another reason to consider Season 2

Lucky also carries considerable star power. Taylor-Joy leads the series and serves as an executive producer, while Timothy Olyphant and Annette Bening have major roles. Reese Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine are also behind the project.

For now, however, Lucky remains a completed limited series. There is no official Lucky Season 2 renewal, production date or release window.

The sequel novel means that door has not completely closed, even after a finale that already gave Lucky a convincing ending.
