Why Can’t Na Bo-bae Touch Anyone?

Bo-bae is approaching 30 and struggling to establish herself as a romance writer. Her biggest professional problem is her lack of romantic experience, which makes writing convincing love scenes especially difficult.

As a child, Bo-bae survived a lightning strike that left her body capable of producing powerful electrical shocks. Since then, touching another person has become dangerous.

She wears gloves to protect others and avoids physical intimacy, leaving her unable to experience many of the romantic moments she writes about.

Her family also expects her to reconsider her career if she cannot achieve success, adding another problem to her already complicated life.

What Happens When Bo-bae Meets Baek Ho-rang?

Meanwhile, Baek Ho-rang manages TS Resort and carries a serious medical secret. His heart functions with an artificial device, making his health another important part of the story.

During their first encounter, Bo-bae and Ho-rang accidentally kiss. She expects him to suffer an electrical shock, just like everyone else who touches her.

Surprisingly, nothing happens.

Bo-bae quickly realizes that Ho-rang appears immune to her electricity. She becomes determined to understand why he is different, while Ho-rang finds her sudden interest confusing.

As Decider’s review of the Netflix series explains, their awkward encounter establishes the unusual romantic connection between the two characters.

Take Charge of My Heart Episode 1 Ending Explained

The first episode establishes a connection between Bo-bae’s electrical powers and Ho-rang’s artificial heart.

For Bo-bae, discovering someone she can touch safely creates an opportunity she has never experienced before. She can finally imagine having a romantic relationship without constantly worrying about hurting her partner.

Ho-rang, however, has a problem of his own. His artificial heart depends on a battery, and its limitations threaten his future.

The episode leaves an important question surrounding their unusual compatibility: Why can Ho-rang withstand electricity that harms everyone else?

The series subsequently develops this mystery when Bo-bae’s electricity proves capable of charging his artificial heart.

This connection also gives the romance a deeper meaning. Both characters have spent years dealing with physical limitations, and their unexpected meeting offers them a possible solution.

What Happens Next in Episode 2?

According to Netflix’s Episode 2 synopsis, Ho-rang discovers that Bo-bae’s electrical powers could solve his artificial-heart battery problem.

He consequently approaches her with an unusual offer, setting up an arrangement that brings them closer together.

All 10 episodes of Take Charge of My Heart are available to stream on Netflix.
