Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 5 will arrive on Apple TV on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, continuing the show’s weekly release schedule with one of Richmond’s biggest matches of the season so far.

What happens in Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 5?
Spoilers ahead for Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 4.
Episode 5 should pick up directly from the progress made during “Greyhounds’ Day Off.” Ted and Coach Beard spent Episode 4 trying to fix divisions inside the Lady Greyhounds squad after separate groups started forming within the team.
Their unusual team-building efforts eventually brought the players closer together, although the night also ended with the squad landing in jail after a bar fight. More importantly, Richmond finished the episode preparing for an FA Cup meeting with Chelsea.
That match becomes the main event in Episode 5. Apple’s official description says the women will face Chelsea while Alice feels the pressure. With the players only beginning to function as a proper unit, the Chelsea game gives Ted an immediate test of whether the bonding exercise actually changed how they play together.
Rebecca also has her own story developing. Episode 4 saw her attending a women’s sports investment event with Keeley, where questions around money, ownership and the growth of the women’s game created new tension. Episode 5 promises a “complicated dynamic” for Rebecca, suggesting that storyline will continue alongside the Chelsea match.
How Season 4 connects to the previous story
Season 3 ended with Ted leaving Richmond and returning to Kansas to spend more time with Henry, while Roy became AFC Richmond’s manager. Keeley also presented Rebecca with the idea of creating a Richmond women’s team, which eventually became one of the foundations for Season 4.
Season 4 brings Ted back to England several years later and places him in charge of that women’s side. The first four episodes have focused on building the team and bringing its players together, and Episode 5 appears ready to turn that development into a major competitive test.
