Apple TV has already confirmed Widow’s Bay Season 2, and the latest update gives fans a clearer idea of how long the wait could be. Creator Katie Dippold is currently working with the Season 2 writers, while filming is planned to begin in 2027.
Apple renewed the horror-comedy on June 11, several days before the first season finale arrived on June 17. Matthew Rhys is set to continue leading the series as Mayor Tom Loftis, although Apple has not announced a complete Season 2 cast or an official premiere date.

Dippold said at San Diego Comic-Con that the writers planned to spend around 20 weeks working on the new season. More recent comments also place her inside the Season 2 writers’ room, so scripts remain under development rather than production being ready to start immediately.
Widow’s Bay Season 2 has a major cliffhanger to resolve

Season 1 followed Tom as he tried to revive the struggling island and attract tourists, even as residents repeatedly warned him that Widow’s Bay was cursed. His skepticism became harder to maintain as old supernatural stories started becoming real and the town’s history slowly came into focus.
The finale revealed that the curse traces back to Richard Warren, who made a pact with the island’s demonic entity. Tom eventually discovers that his son Evan is Warren’s final living descendant, making Evan central to ending the curse.
That leaves Tom facing an especially difficult problem in Season 2. He knows what Evan’s bloodline means, while the rest of the island still has to deal with the terms of the old pact.
The final scene adds another threat when the church bell tolls eight times, signaling that the island now demands eight sacrifices. Dippold has also teased that there are still unexplored parts of Widow’s Bay and more horrors waiting around the island.
When could Widow’s Bay Season 2 premiere?
Apple has not provided a release window, and production is not expected to start until 2027. That schedule makes a 2026 return impossible, while any specific 2027 premiere prediction remains premature until filming dates become clearer.
The series enters its next chapter with plenty of momentum after earning 19 Emmy nominations for its first season.
