Episode 3, “The Bear Is Infected,” reveals more about the intelligence operation threatening Joe and her family. Ukrainian operative Oleksandra Balakin tells the CIA that Russia has developed an extensive network inside the United States, with compromised Americans allegedly including several senators.
Joe eventually backs a risky strategy designed to expose that network. Her team plans to create the impression that the United States has captured an important Russian intelligence figure, hoping the announcement forces hidden operatives to react and reveal themselves.
Episode 3 then delivers a disturbing glimpse of Joe apparently imprisoned and tortured by Russians, suggesting the operation carries consequences that extend far beyond the immediate investigation.
What to expect from “Murder Hornets”
The confirmed synopsis says a frantic hunt begins as the team races against time, while Neal struggles with increasing fear at home. The Episode 4 photos also show Cruz back alongside Tucker and other members of the tactical team, while Morgan Freeman returns as Secretary of State Edwin Mullins.
The title “Murder Hornets” fits closely with Joe’s decision to disturb the Russian network and watch who reacts. After spending Episode 3 identifying the scale of the infiltration, the next chapter appears ready to move the story back toward a more urgent field operation.
Joe also faces growing pressure at home. Her daughters have already asked her to leave the CIA after the attacks surrounding their family, while Neal has been forced to accept that Joe’s work can reach their doorstep. Episode 4 will continue that conflict as the danger surrounding the McNamaras grows.
