Apple has shared new details about the growth of its App Store ecosystem, revealing that developers generated an estimated $1.4 trillion in billings and sales during 2025. The latest figures highlight the continued expansion of the App Store economy and the growing opportunities available to developers across the platform.
From Apple’s Report
According to Apple, several major milestones stood out in 2025:
- The App Store ecosystem generated $1.4 trillion in developer billings and sales.
- Developers paid no commission to Apple on more than 90% of those transactions.
- The App Store ecosystem has grown by nearly three times since 2019.
- Apps offering consumer-focused AI features recorded four times faster growth in billings compared to other apps.
AI Apps Drive Strong Growth
Apple’s report also points to the rising popularity of artificial intelligence features. Consumer-facing AI apps experienced significantly stronger growth than other categories, showing how users are increasingly adopting AI-powered tools, services, and experiences across iPhone and iPad devices.
Apple explained that the App Store ecosystem includes iOS apps downloaded through the App Store. The calculation also includes a small number of app downloads from alternative marketplaces and direct developer websites in regions where those options are available, since those apps still rely on Apple technologies and services.
The new figures arrive just ahead of WWDC 2026 and offer another look at how developers continue to build successful businesses through Apple’s software ecosystem.
