Apple briefly published a support guide explaining how Mac users in mainland China could connect Alibaba’s Qwen AI to Siri and Writing Tools, but the company removed the page less than a day later. The short-lived document gives the clearest sign yet that Apple is preparing to bring its China-specific AI setup to the Mac.
Reuters spotted the Chinese-language guide on Apple’s support website on August 8. According to the document, Mac users would need macOS 26.6 or later and would have to sign into their own Qwen account before using the extension.

The guide said Siri could send some complex requests to Qwen, including questions involving photos and documents, while Writing Tools could use the service to generate text and images. Apple also stated that Alibaba could not use submitted content to train or improve its AI models.
Apple pulls the guide one day later
ReadHub reported that Apple removed the support page by August 9, while TechNode said Apple customer service had received no notice about a new feature launch. Analyst Liu Dingding told the Global Times that the removal could relate to technical changes or remaining regulatory steps.
Apple’s setup closely follows its existing ChatGPT integration in other markets, where users can allow Siri and Writing Tools to send selected requests to an external AI service.
Chinese regulators approved Apple’s on-device AI service for iPhone in July, but Apple has not announced a Mac rollout date. The briefly published Qwen guide suggests Mac support is already in preparation, although Apple has not confirmed when the integration will officially become available.
