Apple has officially introduced Siri AI at WWDC 2026, marking the biggest upgrade to Siri since the voice assistant first launched. The company confirmed that the new Siri is powered by advanced AI technology and now works with Google Gemini models, giving Apple’s assistant far more intelligence, context awareness, and app control capabilities.
Siri AI Is the Centerpiece of Apple’s AI Push
During the WWDC 2026 keynote, Apple positioned Siri AI as the future of Apple Intelligence. The company showcased a redesigned assistant that can understand personal information, analyze on-screen content, and perform actions across apps with far less user input.
Apple says Siri AI can now understand:
- Personal context from messages, emails, calendars, and notes
- On-screen awareness to understand what is currently displayed
- Cross-app actions that combine multiple tasks
- Natural conversations with more detailed responses
- Voice and text interactions through a modern chat-style interface
Apple and Google Gemini Partnership Is Now Official
One of the biggest announcements from WWDC 2026 is Apple’s partnership with Google Gemini. Apple confirmed that Gemini foundation models help power the new Siri AI experience while maintaining Apple’s privacy-focused approach. Tasks can be processed on-device, through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, or with Gemini when needed.
This partnership gives Siri access to much stronger AI capabilities while allowing Apple to continue building its own Foundation Models platform.
New Siri UI and App Experience
Apple also unveiled a refreshed Siri UI. The assistant now appears through elegant floating cards and contextual panels that blend into iOS 27. Several demonstrations showed Siri AI surfacing location information, weather updates, knowledge answers, and app controls directly on screen.
The company also introduced a dedicated Siri app experience, making the assistant feel closer to modern AI chatbots while remaining deeply integrated into the iPhone ecosystem.
WWDC 2026 makes one thing clear: Apple wants Siri AI to compete directly with modern AI assistants. With Gemini integration, Apple Foundation Models, personal context awareness, app actions, and a redesigned interface, Siri has become far more capable than previous versions. The announcement represents Apple’s most significant AI move yet and sets the stage for a new generation of intelligent experiences across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other Apple devices.
