Apple is preparing to refresh its Mac lineup this fall, with a new M6 MacBook Pro and updated iMacs expected around October. The timing lines up with Apple’s usual Mac release window, and the company appears to be focusing first on lower-end models before introducing bigger MacBook Pro changes later.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple is readying a new 14-inch base MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip. This model should arrive before the more expensive MacBook Pro versions, which are expected to bring OLED displays and M5 Pro or M5 Max chips between late 2026 and early 2027.

Apple has also been testing those higher-end laptops with macOS 27.1, which is expected to reach users near the end of October. That timing gives Apple a clear window to introduce at least part of its new Mac lineup during the same month.
New iMacs are also expected
Apple is also preparing an updated 24-inch iMac, replacing the current M4 model with either an M5 or M6 chip. The design is expected to stay largely unchanged, so the main improvements should come from faster performance and newer Apple silicon.
Apple is separately developing a 24-inch iMac with an OLED display, although that model remains several years away. For now, the October refresh looks focused on chip upgrades across the MacBook Pro and iMac lines.
