Apple Puts AI Camera AirPods Pro Project on Hold, Claims Leaker

Apple’s Next AirPods Pro 4 May Add Cameras for Gesture Control

Apple has reportedly halted development of its rumored camera-equipped AirPods Pro, according to leaker and prototype collector Kosutami, who claimed the project has been suspended rather than concluded.

The claim is notable because earlier reports suggested that Apple had already moved the new AirPods Pro into advanced testing, with early production plans expected for a possible 2026 launch.

Bloomberg previously reported that Apple wanted to use tiny built-in cameras on the AirPods Pro to support AI features, rather than photo or video capture. These cameras were expected to read visual information from the user’s surroundings and send that context to Siri for smarter responses.

However, Apple reportedly delayed the product because the upgraded AI version of Siri was still not ready for a wider release. The feature currently appears tied to iOS 27 development, with a broader rollout expected later in the year.

Kosutami has shared accurate Apple details before, including early information about the iPhone 16 Pro battery design and FineWoven Apple Watch bands. However, the leaker has also missed some predictions, including an earlier claim about AirPods Pro 3.

For now, the camera-equipped AirPods Pro remain uncertain, and Apple appears to be waiting until its AI features meet the quality it wants for a public launch.
