Apple has released a new firmware update for the Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds. The update arrives months after the earbuds launched earlier this year and focuses on improving the overall experience. The new firmware version is 8A359, replacing the earlier 8A353 build released in September.
While Apple has not shared a detailed changelog, this update likely focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements. In past updates, Apple has used firmware releases to add meaningful features. That pattern suggests this update aims to improve stability, connectivity, or battery performance rather than introduce visible changes.
According to Apple, earlier firmware updates brought iOS 26 support to the Powerbeats Pro lineup. Those updates added compatibility with the Fitness app and enabled real-time workout metrics. Powerbeats Pro 2 also marked a major step for Apple by introducing in-ear heart rate monitoring. That feature has since expanded to AirPods Pro 3, making it part of Apple’s broader audio ecosystem.
How to install firmware update
Updating happens automatically, but you need to follow a few steps.
First, connect your Powerbeats Pro 2 to a power source. Next, keep them within Bluetooth range of an iPhone, iPad, or Mac connected to Wi Fi. The update installs in the background.
How to check your firmware version
On iPhone, open Settings. Tap Bluetooth. Find your Beats headphones and tap the info button. Android users can update and check firmware using the Beats app for Android.
The update rolls out gradually, so you may not see it right away.
