Apple has released watchOS 26.2.1 for Apple Watch. The update adds support for AirTag Precision Finding and also includes bug fixes and performance improvements. It focuses on helping you locate lost items faster and with better accuracy, right from your wrist.
Apple says the update pairs with the launch of AirTag 2, which includes a second generation Ultra Wideband chip for more accurate tracking. Because of this timing, watchOS 26.2.1 brings a feature designed to work with the new AirTag hardware.
Precision Finding comes to Apple Watch

With watchOS 26.2.1, Precision Finding now works on Apple Watch for the first time. You no longer need your iPhone to get step by step directions to a lost AirTag. Instead, your watch guides you using haptic taps, on screen visuals, and sound. This makes it easier to follow the exact path to your item.
The feature works on Apple Watch Series 9 or later and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later. Apple Watch SE models do not support Precision Finding. If your watch does not support this feature, you can still use the Find Items app. It shows the AirTag on a map and lets you play a sound, but it does not give you precise direction guidance.
Beyond Precision Finding, watchOS 26.2.1 also includes general bug fixes and performance improvements. Apple recommends the update for all Apple Watch users since it improves stability and works better with the latest AirTag models.
If you use AirTags often, this update turns your Apple Watch into a more useful tracking tool. You can now find your items faster without pulling out your phone, which makes everyday use simpler and more convenient.
