Apple Smart Glasses Release Date Reportedly Locked In for Late 2027

Apple’s long-rumored smart glasses reportedly have a new launch target, with the company now aiming to release the wearable device at the end of 2027. The glasses are expected to compete directly with products such as Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses and upcoming smart eyewear from Google and Samsung, though Apple appears willing to take extra time before entering the category.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in the latest Power On newsletter, Apple originally planned to introduce its smart glasses much sooner, but development challenges and delays pushed the timeline back.

“The Apple spectacles were once slated to be introduced at the end of this year, but we’re now heading toward a release at the very end of 2027, I’m told.” – Mark Gurman, Power On

Part of 2027 Product Lineup

Gurman reports that 2027 is shaping up to be one of Apple’s busiest years ever. Alongside the company’s first smart glasses, Apple is reportedly preparing the 20th anniversary iPhone lineup, a second-generation foldable iPhone, and new AirPods equipped with cameras that can provide visual data for Siri-powered AI features.

The smart glasses are expected to use Apple’s own hardware and software technologies, allowing the company to maintain tighter control over performance, design, and privacy. That privacy focus could become one of the product’s biggest selling points as concerns continue to grow around data collection and always-on cameras in wearable devices.

Apple reportedly believes smart glasses will eventually play a major role in personal computing, a view shared by several technology companies that are investing heavily in the category. However, Apple appears focused on delivering a polished product rather than rushing to market.

If the current timeline holds, Apple’s first smart glasses will arrive near the end of 2027 as part of what could become one of the most significant product refresh cycles in the company’s history.
