Apple Sports Update adds FIFA World Cup 2026 Tracking, Live Scores and More

Apple Expands Sports App to 80 Countries With Major Soccer and NCAA Update

Apple has updated its Sports app for iPhone to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, giving fans a clear way to follow teams, track matches, and stay updated as the tournament unfolds from June 11 through July 19 across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

The update also reflects the expanded 48-team format, which introduces more groups and a longer competition schedule, and the app now shows complete groupings so users can understand how teams progress from the early stages to the knockout rounds.

Follow the World Cup

You can search for “FIFA World Cup 2026” inside the app and tap the star icon to add the tournament to your My Leagues section, while the My Teams section lets you follow specific national teams for more focused updates and match alerts.

Once you select your preferences, the app delivers real-time scores, stats, and lineup details, and it also uses Live Activities so match updates stay visible on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island without needing to open the app repeatedly.

When games begin, Apple Sports shows live play-by-play updates along with key stats, and it also links to the Apple TV app so you can quickly jump into live streams where available.

The app already supports more than 30 major leagues and tournaments across regions like North America, Europe, and Latin America, and this World Cup update builds on that coverage with deeper tournament tracking and easier navigation between fixtures and results.
