Apple Store Stock Runs Low as “updated products are on the way”

Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini updates look imminent after inventory dips

Apple Stores are running low on key home devices, and that shift in stock levels is drawing attention because it often signals an upcoming refresh for existing products. Reports point to reduced availability for the HomePod, HomePod mini, and Apple TV 4K across multiple regions, which lines up with Apple’s usual pattern before new hardware arrives.

Right now, you will notice limited in-store availability and longer delivery times for these products, which suggests Apple is clearing out current inventory while preparing for the next wave of devices. This does not confirm an immediate launch, but it keeps expectations active as both the Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini are already due for updates.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest newsletter, the situation reflects a familiar trend tied to Apple’s product cycle.

“Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Retail inventory of the full-sized HomePod, the HomePod mini and the Apple TV set-top box is running low at Apple retail stores around the world. Shortages more often than not mean that updated products are on the way. But let’s not jump to any conclusions here.”

He also notes that Apple has had updated versions of the Apple TV and HomePod mini ready for some time, but delayed their release while waiting for a more advanced Siri and broader Apple Intelligence rollout.

Why Apple is holding back

Apple appears to be aligning its next hardware updates with software improvements, especially the upgraded Siri experience. The company wants tighter integration between hardware and artificial intelligence features, which explains why these devices have not launched yet despite being ready.

At the same time, Gurman suggests Apple may move ahead with the hardware if delays continue, indicating that the company may not want to hold inventory any longer than necessary.

The next Apple TV 4K is expected to move from the A15 Bionic chip to the A17 Pro, which supports Apple Intelligence features and improves performance for streaming, gaming, and smart home tasks.

For the HomePod mini, Apple is likely to upgrade from the current S5 chip to a newer version, possibly the S9 or beyond, to handle more advanced Siri capabilities. Reports also mention improved sound quality, updated connectivity features, and new color options.

Bigger HomePod also sees low stock

Interestingly, the full-sized HomePod is also facing shortages, even though Apple refreshed it more recently. There are no strong rumors about a new version yet, but its declining inventory suggests Apple may update it alongside the smaller model to keep the lineup consistent.

Apple has already released several products this month, but these home devices remain on hold. If Apple ties them to its upcoming Siri upgrade, announcements could arrive anytime between late March and September.
