Apple Watch Series 12 Could Revive the Ceramic Case After Seven Years

Apple Watch Series 12 is expected to debut at Apple’s September event next month, and a new leak suggests Apple plans to bring back a ceramic case option for the first time in several years.

The ceramic Apple Watch has been absent from Apple’s lineup since the Series 5 Edition model, which launched in 2019 and later disappeared as Apple moved away from the Edition branding.

Leaker Kosutami said in a new post on X that Apple Watch Series 12 will include a ceramic design option, giving buyers another premium material alongside Apple’s regular case choices.

The report also lines up with earlier information suggesting Apple has been considering another ceramic Apple Watch, although the timing remained unclear until now.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported earlier this month that Apple was planning a ceramic Apple Watch for either 2026 or 2027, which means the latest leak points toward an earlier launch during this year’s Apple Watch refresh.

Ceramic Apple Watch could return at a higher price

Apple previously positioned ceramic models as premium versions of the Apple Watch, with the material offering a glossy finish and strong scratch resistance compared with standard aluminum cases.

Apple has not revealed how much a ceramic Apple Watch Series 12 would cost, although the material will likely carry a noticeable premium over the regular models if it returns.

Apple is expected to unveil Apple Watch Series 12 alongside several other products at its September event, and the return of ceramic would give the new model one of its most visible design changes.
