Apple’s upcoming OLED MacBook Pro is expected to help drive a 50% increase in OLED notebook display shipments in 2026, as manufacturers increasingly adopt the technology for premium laptops. The anticipated shift comes as demand for OLED panels continues to grow despite an expected decline in the broader notebook display market.
Counterpoint Research forecasts an 11% year-over-year increase in advanced notebook display shipments in 2026, while the overall notebook display market is expected to shrink by 3%. OLED is also projected to capture 75% of the advanced display market, up from 56% in 2025, as MiniLED loses ground.
Apple’s OLED MacBook Pro Could Accelerate Adoption
Apple is reportedly preparing redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models featuring OLED touchscreens, thinner designs, and lighter chassis. Rumors suggest an October 27 announcement, although Apple has yet to confirm the launch.

The upcoming models are expected to feature tandem OLED technology, which Apple already uses in the iPad Pro to improve brightness, power efficiency, and display longevity.
Counterpoint Research Associate Director David Naranjo said:
OLED notebook PC growth will increasingly depend on translating advances in panel performance and manufacturing into compelling products at competitive prices. Apple’s anticipated adoption and demand for premium AI PCs are expected to accelerate the near-term transition, while improvements in efficiency, panel lifetime and production scale should support broader adoption through 2030.
Meanwhile, OLED notebook shipments are projected to increase another 24% in 2027, supported by improving manufacturing efficiency and expanding production capacity.
Counterpoint expects OLED notebook panel shipments to grow at a compound annual rate of 26% through 2030, with revenue increasing 35% annually over the same period.
