Blackmagic Unveils A Massive $26K 3D Camera For The Vision Pro

Apple Vision Pro Blackmagic

Blackmagic just announced a powerful new version of its premium camera designed specifically to shoot three-dimensional video for the AppleVision Pro. The URSA Cine Immersive 100G builds on its predecessor by adding incredibly fast Ethernet capabilities. This upgrade allows filmmakers to output live spatial video with stunning clarity.

However, this massive hardware upgrade comes with an equally massive price tag of over $26,000 for buyers in the USA.

Blackmagic adds a faster Ethernet port for live video streams

The biggest change in this new URSA Cine Immersive model is the jump to an incredibly fast 100G Ethernet connection. Previously, capturing spatial video meant storing massive files locally and processing them much later.

Now, the camera pushes enough bandwidth to stream live video directly to a professional editing bay or a broadcast setup. The company also introduced a dedicated live encoder module for an extra $1,645.

This separate processor box takes the heavy video feeds, compresses the raw footage, and pushes it through a single cable connection. The setup gives live event producers the exact tools needed to broadcast sports or stadium concerts in full three dimensions.

The new camera hardware captures incredibly detailed spatial video files

Under the hood, this giant camera packs a custom stereoscopic lens system paired with dual 8K digital sensors. It essentially mimics how human eyes work to record a wide 180-degree field of view.

When you put on the headset to watch, the recorded content displays an incredible 8,160 by 7,200 resolution for each individual eye. The hardware shoots up to 90 frames per second, ensuring very smooth motion playback during action scenes.

It also captures up to 16 stops of dynamic range to preserve tiny details hidden in dark shadows and bright highlights. Filmmakers can control these intricate settings using two distinct touchscreens or standard physical ports.

The massive price tag keeps this gear for professional studios

This kind of heavy-duty recording equipment is clearly not meant for casual vloggers or independent creators. Blackmagic is asking a steep $26,495 for the new 100G model when it officially launches later in the USA this year for the Apple Vision Pro content.

If you do not need the live broadcasting features, the company still sells the original version on its website for a slightly lower price of $24,995. High-profile film productions are already using this specific gear to shoot major nature documentaries, music concerts, and high-speed racing events.

As more massive studios adopt this advanced hardware, buyers at home should see a steady increase in the amount of spatial content available to watch.
