Claude, ChatGPT, and Grok are experiencing widespread service problems today, September 3, affecting users across iPhone apps, web browsers, APIs, and other platforms. Thousands of users have reported failed prompts, loading problems, and error messages.

Outage reports began climbing sharply during the day, with ChatGPT receiving the largest number of complaints. Downdetector recorded more than 37,000 ChatGPT reports around 11 a.m. ET, while Claude and Grok also received more than 1,000 reports each around their respective peaks.

ChatGPT Is Facing Elevated Errors

OpenAI has confirmed elevated errors affecting ChatGPT and Codex. The company said it applied a mitigation and is monitoring the recovery, although its status page still lists the incident as ongoing at the time of writing.

Users have reported problems loading conversations, submitting prompts, logging in, and accessing features across the web and mobile apps. Some reports also mention issues with voice, search, uploads, and image tools.

Claude and Grok Are Also Having Problems

Anthropic is dealing with elevated error rates across several Claude models and currently lists Claude.ai, Claude API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork as partially affected. The company says it has identified the cause of its current model errors and is working on a fix.

Grok is also experiencing a confirmed outage. xAI’s status page currently lists Grok on iOS, the web, Android, X, and several API services as unavailable or affected. xAI says it is investigating the problem and working to restore service.

There is currently no confirmed evidence that the ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok outages share the same underlying cause. Users experiencing problems will need to watch the companies’ status pages as engineers continue restoring services.
