Formula 1 2026 Season Starts This Weekend on Apple TV in the US

The 2026 Formula 1 season begins this weekend, and U.S. viewers will notice a major change in how they watch the sport. Apple TV now serves as the exclusive streaming home for Formula 1 in the United States, bringing every race weekend session into the Apple TV app.

This means Apple TV and Apple One subscribers can watch the entire season in one place. Coverage includes practice sessions, qualifying rounds, Sprint races, and every Grand Prix. The season opens with the FORMULA 1 QATAR AIRWAYS AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2026, which airs Saturday, March 7 at 8 p.m. PT.

Apple confirmed the new partnership in a press release announcing the launch of the 2026 season on Apple TV. The company said the move introduces a new viewing experience designed specifically for Formula 1 fans in the U.S.

ā€œThis weekend marks the start of a new era for Formula 1 fans in the U.S. We’re excited to bring every moment of the season to Apple TV, delivering an immersive experience designed entirely around fans.ā€
— Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services

Formula 1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali also welcomed the partnership and highlighted the sport’s continued growth in the United States.

ā€œAs we begin this exciting chapter for our sport with new teams, cars, engines, and drivers, it is the perfect time to welcome Apple as our broadcaster in the United States.ā€

Subscribers can stream Formula 1 directly through the Apple TV app across many devices. The service works on Apple devices and several third-party platforms, so fans do not need to own Apple hardware to watch the races.

Supported devices include:

  • iPhone and iPad
  • Mac computers
  • Apple TV 4K
  • Apple Vision Pro
  • Smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL, and others
  • Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices
  • PlayStation and Xbox consoles
  • Web browsers through tv.apple.com

The first race weekend begins with the Australian Grand Prix, and every session will stream live and remain available on demand afterward.

Viewing features for the 2026 season

Apple says the broadcast aims to provide a more immersive Formula 1 viewing experience with several new features.

  • 4K resolution with Dolby Vision, a first for Formula 1 broadcasts
  • 5.1 surround sound audio during races
  • English and Spanish commentary options
  • Up to 30 additional live feeds with telemetry, driver tracking, and onboard cameras
  • Multiview support that allows fans to watch up to four live feeds at once
  • Sky Sports broadcasts are available as an alternate viewing option

Multiview works on supported devices such as Apple TV 4K, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro. Fans can pick from preset layouts or customize their own combination of live feeds to follow specific drivers, teams, or telemetry data during the race.

Apple TV subscribers in the U.S. also receive F1 TV Premium at no additional cost, which includes additional motorsport coverage like Formula 2, Formula 3, F1 Academy, and Porsche Supercup events.

With the new season beginning this weekend, Apple TV now serves as the central destination for Formula 1 in the United States, offering full race coverage alongside analysis, replays, and curated programming throughout the season.
