Apple has released iOS 18.7.5 and iPadOS 18.7.5 for older devices that do not move to the latest mainline iOS and iPadOS versions. The update is now available to the public, with build number 22H311.
This release arrives right after the 26.3 beta cycle wrapped up, which is why some users saw a Release Candidate a few days earlier. With 26.3 now out, the next expected wave is 26.4 betas.
iOS 18.7.5 and iPadOS 18.7.5 are available for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and iPad (7th generation).
How to update
- Open Settings
- Tap General
- Tap Software Update
- Tap Download and Install
- Enter your passcode (if prompted) and accept the terms
If you want the safest path, back up first using iCloud or a computer, then install while connected to Wi-Fi and power.
Changes
Apple positions iOS 18.7.5 and iPadOS 18.7.5 as a security-focused update. The security note lists fixes across system areas such as networking, media handling, WebKit, and Wi-Fi, along with multiple privacy and sandbox-related patches.
A few examples of what this update addresses:
- A lock-screen related issue that could expose sensitive information to someone with physical access in certain scenarios
- Path handling weaknesses in networking components that could lead to unexpected file writes
- Media parsing and image handling bugs that could trigger crashes or memory exposure when processing crafted files
- Web content handling fixes to reduce the risk of crashes or denial-of-service from malicious pages
If your device is on the supported list, this is the kind of update you should install sooner rather than later.

I’ve got exactly same problem. it’s frustrating Apple denies the possibility to choose 18.7.5 to millions of it’s users who still have an IPhone 11.
I use ipados 18 on an ipad mini 6. I also only see ipados 26, the Clippy OS, as the only upgrade option. I have started moving away from apple. How clever to build on the microsoft Clippy approach to software improvement and make Apple’s Clippy, Liquid Glass, not just something mostly passive, but which actively interferes with using the computer. Apple should change the names of all their operating systems. No longer Mac OS, or iphone OS, or ipad OS; much too nerdy; Clippy OS; One OS to rule them all, One OS to to find them, one OS to bring them all and in the Darkness of Liquid Glass, Bind Them.
When I try to run a software update I do not get an option to go to 18.7.5. All I get is 26 update. I do not want 26
agree want 18.7.5
Same here. Keeps insisting I get it but won’t install it.
