Apple has released its final iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 adoption numbers ahead of the first iOS 27 developer beta, showing that a large majority of active iPhones and iPads now run the latest software. The figures are based on devices that made a transaction on the App Store on June 7, 2026, one day before WWDC 2026 began.
iOS 26 Adoption on iPhone
Apple’s latest data shows strong adoption across the iPhone lineup, especially among newer devices.
- 86% of iPhones introduced in the last four years run iOS 26
- 79% of all active iPhones run iOS 26
- 14% of all iPhones still run iOS 18
- 7% use an earlier version of iOS
iPadOS 26 Adoption on iPad
iPadOS 26 adoption remains lower than iPhone adoption, but a majority of active iPads have already upgraded.
- 79% of iPads introduced in the last four years run iPadOS 26
- 68% of all active iPads run iPadOS 26
- 17% of all iPads run iPadOS 18
- 15% use an earlier version of iPadOS
Compared to iOS 18 adoption figures shared in June 2025, the latest numbers show a slight decline across both iPhone and iPad categories. Last year, iOS 18 reached 82% of all iPhones, while iPadOS 18 reached 71% of all iPads.
With iOS 27 beta testing now underway, these figures mark Apple’s final update on iOS 26 adoption and provide a snapshot of how quickly users embraced the software before the next major release arrives.
