iOS 27.2 Beta 3 Performance Reports Are Mixed on ProMotion iPhones

iOS 27.2 beta 3 is not delivering the same performance result for every ProMotion iPhone. Some testers describe smoother scrolling and animations, while others say stuttering remains unchanged.

The split appears throughout the beta 3 discussion thread. One user said beta 3 felt much better than beta 2, but testers with iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro reported no improvement after updating.

The thread does not include frame-rate measurements or matching before-and-after tests. It therefore cannot show whether the difference comes from the system, a particular app or the way each tester used the phone.

Smoother is not a measurable fix

Descriptions such as smooth or snappy are subjective unless testers compare the same task, device and settings. The comments are useful for finding an issue to investigate, but they are not a benchmark or a confirmed change log.

Clear app icon lag also remains for some users, as MacObserver’s beta 3 issue report explains. That specific animation should not be confused with systemwide ProMotion performance.

Apple has not announced a broad frame-rate fix in beta 3. Users who require consistent performance should wait for the stable release and independent testing.

The mixed reports do not establish a fix or regression. Until Apple documents a frame-rate change or repeatable testing measures it, the observations remain subjective feedback from prerelease software. Beta participants also use different apps and devices, preventing the thread from isolating a single cause for the conflicting experiences reported after installation. That distinction matters for buyers.
