iOS 27.2 beta 3 appears to strengthen the parallax movement used by some iPhone wallpapers. The effect makes foreground and background elements shift more noticeably as the phone moves or the user interacts with the Lock Screen.

A video posted in the beta 3 community thread showed movement that two testers considered stronger than earlier builds. Apple has not identified a parallax adjustment in its release notes.

The result can depend on the selected wallpaper. Images with clear foreground subjects and depth information make movement easier to see, while flat graphics or tightly cropped photos may show little difference.

The effect is not universal

Apple’s Reduce Motion documentation says the setting disables the parallax effect in which wallpaper, apps and alerts shift as a device is tilted. Testers with that option enabled therefore will not see the reported movement.

This is separate from the lag some testers continue to report with Clear app icons. MacObserver’s broader beta 3 report covers those unresolved performance complaints.

Apple can still tune the animation before release. Installing beta software only to obtain the stronger effect is not recommended because prerelease builds can introduce unrelated stability and compatibility problems.

The reported change is visual and does not add a new wallpaper control. Apple has not documented it, so the effect could be adjusted again or removed before the public iOS 27.2 release. A reliable comparison needs the same wallpaper, device and settings on both builds, which the short community report does not provide.
