iOS 27 to Introduce New Left-Side Notification Animation for iPhone

iOS 27 reportedly changes iPhone notifications with a new left-side animation and moves Notification Center access to the top-left corner.

Apple plans to change how notifications appear on the iPhone with iOS 27, and this small visual shift connects directly to a bigger gesture change across the system. Instead of dropping from the top, new alerts will reportedly slide in from the left side of the screen.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple is moving Notification Center access to the top-left corner because the top-center swipe will now open a new Siri-linked “Search or Ask” interface.

“Notifications across iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 have a new effect for when alerts arrive. They now slide in from the left side of the screen.”

The change makes sense if Apple gives Siri a larger role in iOS 27. On supported iPhones, swiping down near the Dynamic Island area will reportedly launch the new AI search panel, while Notification Center will sit on the left-side gesture.

For daily use, this means iPhone owners will need to relearn one basic gesture after updating. Alerts will also feel visually different, even though the core notification system should work the same.

Apple will unveil iOS 27 at WWDC 2026, with the first beta expected soon after the keynote.
